Crossroad Naturopathic

Our Team | Jessica Buxbaum

To my dear clients,

As some of you know, I am expecting my first child in the fall and will begin maternity leave September, 2017. It has been very hard to say goodbye after building such wonderful and rewarding relationships with so many of you. Fortunately, I am reassured knowing that you will be in the most compassionate and competent care of my trusted colleague Samantha Cheng during my absence. I have no doubt that you will be in my thoughts while I'm away and I very much look forward to reconnecting with you when I return in the fall of 2018. Wishing you all the best, Jessica

I am Jessica Buxbaum, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. It was my passion for working with people inspired me to complete my Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology. My role as a counsellor has taken me overseas to a hospital in Uganda, an experience that has enriched the work I do locally with clients from diverse backgrounds. Whether I am seeing clients here in Vancouver, or immersing myself in a foreign culture, I feel strongly that we have much to learn from one another. It is this sense of curiosity and open-mindedness that drives my practice.

I often see individuals who are feeling stuck or unsure of their capacity to deal with the struggles they are facing. I've discovered that providing a safe space to process these challenges fosters a sense of clarity and hope for people. They then feel encouraged to make decisions that will bring them closer to reaching their goals.

As a person-centered therapist, I hold the belief that you are the expert of your life and together we can unearth solutions to problems you might be facing. Our work may involve exploring dark places as well as celebrating growth and achievements. I believe we all possess the innate capacity to reach our full potential and sometimes life events disconnect us from that natural ability.

When I'm not seeing clients at Cross Roads Naturopathic, I am passionate about my work as a substance abuse counsellor in Surrey. This work involves the belief that our environment, social supports and life experiences shape our ability to cope with challenges, and that we all manage the best way we know how.

  • Some of my areas of interest include:
  • Substance Abuse & Addiction
  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Stress & Life Changes
  • Trauma & Abuse
  • Shame & Guilt
  • Personal Growth & Self-Awareness
  • Self-Esteem & Self-Confidence
  • Spiritual Concerns & Crisis
  • Grief & Loss

My clients have expressed that our sessions provide new insights and perspectives as well as the tools they need to meet life's challenges and reach their goals. They share with me that our work together allows them to trust themselves and feel empowered to create the positive change they desire.

If you decide to work with me, my hope is that our work together will reconnect you with your inner strength and wisdom as well as your resources for self-understanding and change. I will walk beside you as we make sense of the challenges you're facing and co-create the meaning of life's events together. Our relationship will be based on trust, safety, and support as I meet you where you are on your journey and fully accept whatever may come up in our conversations.

I invite you to begin your journey of growth and exploration today!
