Have recent life events turned your world upside down?
Is something blocking you from living the life you want?
Are issues from the past negatively impacting your present experience?
If you’ve answered “yes”, counselling may help.
Counselling is a collaborative process that allows us to look at whatever is getting in the way of you living your best life and becoming your best self.
It may be comforting to know that there is overwhelming research supporting the effectiveness of counselling. Studies show that counselling is most helpful when the client is ready and committed to the process and when there is a strong relationship between the counsellor and client.
Counselling happens in a safe, confidential, and peaceful space that is free of judgement. This environment allows you to feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind and promotes a deep exploration of the struggles you’re facing. The process allows us to gain a clear understanding of your situation and lived experience.
I will approach our conversations with a sense of curiosity that can elicit new insights and shifts in perspective. From there, we may explore what steps can be taken to get you where you want to be. These steps may be specific actions or simply the intention to change unhelpful thoughts or decision-making styles.
Sessions may be very focused on a specific concern or they can be a free-flowing exploration that leads to unexpected gifts. Sometimes the session is spent processing events and emotions such as pain, grief, anger, frustration, anxiety and fear. Other times we may discuss specific solutions and generate a plan of action. Some conversations may feel heavy while others are uplifting and celebratory.
Individuals seek counselling for many reasons, but my hope is always that we will explore aspects of you that were previously unknown, gaining new insights and a better understanding of your true self.
‘We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
How does payment work?
At Cross Roads Counselling we offer an hourly rate as well as package rates to reduce the hourly rate and affirm your commitment to yourself. We want to support you every step of the way!
Will my insurance company reimburse me for our sessions?
Many extended health care providers cover therapy with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. You are encouraged to contact your insurance company to learn the details of your plan.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people find what they’re looking for in as few as 1-3 sessions and return down the road if the need arises. Others want to work on longer standing concerns that require time and commitment to change.
How often should I come?
In the beginning it can be helpful for us to meet every 1 or 2 weeks and then decrease the frequency of sessions as you experience the changes you desire
